Barefoot Contessa at the Bushnell: Giveaway!

I’m gearing up to leave for vacation this Friday (a week off work, what a perfect birthday present!) so work has been CRAZY. School too. Therefore I’m keeping it light again on the blog today and just popping in to do a giveaway!

Living just outside of Hartford gives me easy access to The Bushnell Center for Performing Arts, where fantastic musicals, plays, panels, and more are held year-round. The Bushnell seriously offers something for everyone! I’ve seen Wicked there twice, and took my Nana Connie to see The Addams Family Musical in 2011. You may recall that I attended the CT Forum’s Vision & Brilliance panel in December as well. I’ve sat on the floor and in the balcony, and I’m serious – every seat is a good seat. After all, the theater was designed so that every single patron could sit back and enjoy the arts, and that involves actually being able to SEE them!

Vision, Brilliance, and Trumbull Kitchen

My best friend Lidia and I had tickets to go see The Connecticut Forum‘s Vision and Brilliance panel at the Bushnell for a couple of months, and finally the big night arrived this past Saturday. Here’s the event description, from the Forum’s website:

“This live, unscripted panel conversation brings together a diverse group of popular experts, each with their own unique field of study and view of the world. The Forum will be fast paced and surprising, as [the panelists] discuss their own work, and so much more… technology, science, design, new ideas, our changing world and possibilities for our future. Bring your sense of wonder to this conversation with big thinkers and visionary minds.”

Quick Friday Hello!

Oh my goodness…last night’s dinner at J. Gilbert’s was SO delish! I took photos and can’t wait to share with you guys whenever I get a chance to write up a full recap. Here’s a Twitter pic of my meal for a little preview:

Ahi tuna, asparagus, baked potato w/pico de gallo.

I’m so ready to go to Group Step tonight after work!  Yesterday I did a few yoga stretches in the morning but other than that it was a rest day, so I’m definitely feeling energized and anxious to get my cardio on, especially after sitting at my desk job/in class today and yesterday. I’m having takeout black beans and quesadillas from my favorite local Mexican place, Loco Perro, after my workout. Then my Nana Connie and I are off to the Bushnell to see The Addams Family Musical!

One of my family’s favorite movies to watch over and over again is Addams Family Values, so I am anxious to see this musical. I love talking to other people and finding out what their “family’s movies” are. I feel like everyone’s family has those one or two movies that they quote endlessly and never get sick of. It’s hilarious how one family’s treasure can be another person’s “WTF?” (like when I was told by my friend Kim that her family’s movie is Meet the Parents – big confusion on my end).

Tomorrow morning I’ll be back to the gym for a morning workout, hanging at Daybreak for some amazing coffee and homework/blog work, and then hopping on a plane with a healthy salad packed lunch for ORLANDO!! Good thing too, because I awoke this morning to an (unpleasant) surprise snowfall. This was the view outside my kitchen window this morning:

Thanks to Nana Connie for the pic!

GET ME TO FLORIDA!

Do you have a movie that you can watch over and over again with your family and quote endlessly? Does it bring about any special memories?

What are your plans for tonight?
